"Y" is for Yorkshire Terrier
The Yorkshire Terrier, or the "Yorkie" for short, is a toy breed, which is generally very intelligent, independent and courageous.
Yorkies are house dogs and are very protective of their domicle (the place they live) and their owners. Most Yorkies will bark loudly and persistently at strangers and growl viciously, even though they are "toy" sized.
Some will even snap their tiny jaws in a show of bravado going so far as to take a small bite of a stranger's leg, usually just grabbing onto the pant fabric, not the skin.
The Yorkshire Terrier seems oblivious (unaware) of its small size. They are often eager for adventure and this cute little dog is highly energetic, brave and loyal.
Yorkies are clever, with above average intelligence. They are very affectionate with its master and are suspicious of strangers and aggressive to strange dogs and small animals.
Usually, their faces are small and covered with longish golden brown hair, while their tiny bodies are mostly covered with long black hair. Their filespan is about 15 years. (V.C)
