The Nobel Prize is a Sweden-based international monetary (money) prize. This award was established by the 1895 will and estate of the Swedish chemist and inventor Alfred Nobel.
The first awards were given for Physics, Chemistry, Physiology, Medicine, Literature and Peace in 1901. Since then, the Nobel Prize for Economics was added in 1969.
Of the Japanese winners of this most prestigious (high cultural value) award, eleven of them have been physicists, seven winners have been chemists, two have been chosen for literature, three for medicine and one individual was picked for peace.
Japan is second behind the U.S. in winning Nobel Prizes in the field of natural science. There have been 24 Japanese Nobel Prize winners since 1949. This is fantastic ! (V.C)
