Americans love the word, the adjective,"super".
How about the meaning of the word,"super"? Well, here is the definition: Super is an adjective. Informally it means, pleasant, or excellent. For example, "Julie was a super girl". The formal meaning of the word includes the "synonyms" (words, having the same meaning), "excellent, first-rate, superb, superlative, outstanding, remarkable, dazzling, marvellous, magnificent, wonderful, splendid, fine, exquisite, exceptional, glorious, perfect".
"Super" when connected to a noun, can become part of the word. For example: superintendent, supermarket, supervisor and of course, the world famous "super-hero", "Superman".
Most Americans don't have a passport. In fact, only 20% of the American population have left America and visited other countries. I mention this because most Americans think the U.S. is a "Super Power". Well, yes, America has super weapons. It also has the "Super Bowl" and "Super Tuesday"! (V.C)
