In today's globalized world, speaking more than one language is a definite advantage. Being able to speak and read several languages really opens up apportunities in business travel and fun.
Polyglots are people who can speak fluently in at least six languages. Imagine being able to travel to foreign countries and not only converse with native speakers, but also understand TV, movies, newspapers and music in that country's language.
Some people are able to learn foreign languages seemingly without any effort...
In history, there have been some notable polyglots ( or rather, hyperpolyglots)
Maybe the most famous of these was Cardinal Giuseppe Mezzofanti, who lived in Italy in the 18th century.
Officially listed as being fluent in 39 languages, and conversant in many more, some people believe that Mezzofanti could acturlly speak well over 100 languages. (G.K)
