When I was in Junior High and High School in the U.S, there were of course some classes I liked and some I didn't.
"P.E." (physical education) class could be in either category dependig on what we did every time.
Gym Class, so called because we often had the class in the school's gymnasium, was held two days a week, for 60 minutes each time.
It was designed to give students a minimum amount of required physical activity per week, as recommended by some U.S. government group.
The activities were different every time, including outdoor sports like baseball, Track and American "flag" football, if the weather was nice.
Indoor sports ranged from the fun: (dodgeball, basketball) to the so-so (valleyball, wrestling), to the ones we hated (gymnastics, dancing, and "Climbing the Rope")
The latter activity consisted of having to climb up a thick, heavy rope attched to the ceiling. (G,K)
