 There are at least one hundred ways to say goodbye in English that are commnly used by native speakers.  Here are some of the more common ones.


Goodbye
 
This sounds a little formal and is generally used with people who you do not know well.  For example, at the end of a job interview, you can say to the interviewer:  "Goodbye.  Have a nice day."


Bye

A shortened form of "Goodbye" that is used in less formal situations.  This expression is more common and can be said to parents or friends.


Have a nice day / evening / night

 This sounds formal and should only be used with people who you do not know well or in business situations.  For example, after eating at a restaurant, the waiter/waitress can say: "Thanks so much !  Have a very nice night! "           (J.F)
