Sometimes adverbs can double up as adjectives, " hard, fast, late, and early " are examples of this.  These words are both adjectives and adverbs.

Many Japanese students of English sometimes confuse adjectives and adverbs.  As I mentioned at the beginning of this English Village Learning Blog, adjectives are often used before the noun.  In grammatical terms, the adjective modifies the noun.  Modify means to change or alter.  Or adjectives can be just adjectives, ex: tired, hungry big, small etc....
