Mexico and the United States Continued (1)

The influence of Mexico on American culture is an old one.  However, other than the old influence, there is also the newer influence of recent Mexican immigrants (people who move to a new country for a long period of time or for the rest of their lives) on American culture.

In the past 30 years, the population of Mexicans in the U.S. has soared (increased a lot).
When I was younger, I do not remember seeing many Mexicans in America.
However, today, those same areas where I grew up have great numbers of Mexicans.

In my home city, large areas are now almost 100% Mexican (with a mix of other Spanish-speaking Latin immigrants, too, in those areas).  The increase in numbers has been so large and so quick that many communities are against the Mexicans and feel that the Mexicans are stealing low-wage (low salary) jobs in their cities.
Other Americans like the rich traditions, Catholic background, and unique culture of the Mexicans.                 (J.F)
