Why do foreigners visit Japan (1)

Most Japanese people I talk to guess that food is the main reason that foreign tourists fly all the way to Japan.

In general, foreigners love Japanese food and it is one of the reasons that they will come here.  However, I have to say that it is usually not the main reason.

The big reasons that one will come to Japan have more to do with sightseeing and cities and not specifically the food.

Foreigners love Kyoto. The immaculate temples, the ancient homes, the winding (not straight and not big) alleys, the Geisha/geiko, and the sakura.

It all seems like something from a fairy tale (a beautiful story told to children).  Japanese culture is older than that of much of Europe and North America so we tend to appreciate these older  aspects of Japan.                    (J.F)
