Pulp Fiction (2)

Perhaps the most famous character from the Plups is Conan the Barbarian.  I should stress that this character has absolutely no connection to the Japanese Anime character Edogawa Conan !

Conan was created by Robert E. Howard, an extremely prolific writer from Texas.

Howard created an entire ancient time period, "The Hybosian Age" which rose and fell before the hisorical time we know.

Conan was a huge barbarian with big muscles and a quick temper, who smashed his way through his violent times, fighting warriors, monsters and evil spitirs.  Several movies have been made of Conan's adventures, including one starring Arnold Schwarze-negar.

Perhaps the most popular pulp magazine was Weird Tales which also published stories by HP Lovecraft and Clark Ashton Smith.

Ironically, some of these writers are now considered masters of the pulp fiction story, and whose work now inspires movies, TV and comics, actually made little money in their own lifetime, and didn't become truly famous until much later.  Robert E. Howard committed suicide in 1936...                                     (G.K)
