Let's talk about New York City !

That's where I come from, the East Village, to be exact, East 12th street.  This is downtown, not too far from Washington Square Park.

Central Park is uptown,  The Empire State Building is located midtown.  Perhaps the most famous avenue in the world is 5th Avenue.

People come to New York to walk up 5th Avenue, to see the sites and to do some high-end shopping.  Tiffany's is on 5th Avenue, on your right, as you walk uptown, as you get closer to Cental Park.  Maybe you are on your way to visit the Metropolitan Museum of Art, after a walk through the park.

New Yorkers always seem to be in a hurry.  Taxis honk thier horns as they race up and down the avenues.  Police sires scream as NYPD cruisers respond to a call.  Subways screech as they speed along steel rails underground.  

New York is a noisy city.  Steam clouds bellow from manhole covers in the streets.
People come and go.  It's like Lou Reed said in one of his songs, "I'm a New York City man, blink your eyes and ...                      (V.C)
