Is Music Dying ? (2)

2014/08/17

If people still listen to music at all they do it nowadays by streaming.  This methods allows someone to listen to whatever song they like, anytime they like, by using websites such as You Tube or applications such as Spotify.  These services are usually free or low cost.

Another reason why music may be dying is that frankly, it just isn't very good these days.

Music companies and radio stations promote the same generic music, written by the same songwriters, as a product, not an art form.

The executives of these music companies are actually bringing their own destruction by doing this, but they don't seem to realize it.

Twenty years ago, and certainly in eras like the 1960s or 1970s, it would be unthinkable to find pesron under age 40 who didn't listen to music, but it's more and more common recently.

The album form of music certainly seems to be dying, as "Singles" are much easier and economical to make and sell.

"No music No life" is the slogan of Tower Records.  We may find out if that is true...                            (G.K)
