英会話ブログ その540     P.E. class (1)

2014/12/07

In most public schools in the world, students are subjected to a form of torture at least once a week.
It's not waterboarding or electric shock.  It's the dreaded P.E. class.

The letters "P.E." refer to "physical education".  In fact, it's just playing a sport or doing some lame exercises while a chubby P.E. teacher (almost always nicknamed "coach") watches and occasionally blows the whistle which is always around his neck.

I think now the activities are probably more interestion than when I was in shchool.  At that time we mostly hated P.E. class because we had to do a sport which none of us were much good at it, such as volleyball or gymnastics.

We also had to do amateur wrestling which made us uneasy because we had to get into extremely close proximity to another sweaty boy, and "grapple" while the coach shouted instructions.                                (G.K)
