Here are two useful idioms often used which includes the word "grave".

1. from the cradle to the grave

This means the span of a person's life from birth until death.

2. have one foot in the grave

This indicates that someone is close to death.


Many words in English have relatives, or friends.  Some are spin-offs, and many are understandable by association and by using a little imagination.                          (V.C)
