英会話ブログ その617     The Jeering Japanese Politicians (1)

2015/03/02

She was an attractive young lady in her mid-thirties, soft-spoken, yet strong in her posture and mind-set as she stood at the speaker's podium in the Tokyo government assembly.

She was talking about help and support for women with children who are working, or might want to work, and other important social and economic issues for women, when a few of her colleagues suddenly attacked her verbally.

There were men politicians who jeered and heckled her, saying things like this: " Hurry up and get married ! "  and " why don't you get married and have a kid ! "  Many laughed at this.                                             (V.C)
