The Zombi, which could move and work but couldn't speak and had limited brain power, was then used as a soulless worker on the island's sugar plantations.  Believe it or not, there are some fairly credible true stories of Haitian Zombis...

George Romero's 1968 movie "Night of the Living Dead" was a landmark horror movie which is chilling, almost silent black and white images showed the kinf of decayed, shuffling, relentless Zombies we know today.

So why are Zombie movies so popular ?  It might be because in these movies we can get a morbid thrill watching dozens or hundreds of them being shot, blown up, run over, etc.  Because they're already "dead", it's okay.  If so many living people were killed in a movie, it would be like genocide.

Also, an actor doesn't need a lot of skill to portray a Zombie.  Just makeup...                              (G.K)
