What’s Up Everyone! Moeno is back!
こんにちは！こんばんは！新宿西口校のMoenoです。皆さんいかがお過ごしでしょうか。

今回はスペシャルブログ！

イングリッシュビレッジ新宿西口校・神田校の講師、Georgeが青森県へ旅行へ行った際の“旅レポート”になります。George自身が日本旅行で感じた日本の素敵なところなどをシェアしてくれました。日本語訳も載せていますので、一度英語で挑戦した後、確かめてみてくださいね！

Living in a big city like Tokyo with the many sights and sounds is an adventure in itself. The city never sleeps but occasionally we need a break from the rush of this urban oasis. Luckily there are places in Japan where time slows down. Fresh air, hot springs and peaceful scenery awaits. Two summers ago I visited Shirakami Sanchi World Heritage Site in Aomori prefecture. Trekking and mountain climbing are popular there. It is a great place to see rare animals and plants. Also nearby in Ajigasawa town there is a famous white Akita dog named Wasao that lives there. He is featured sometimes on popular TV shows in Japan. I was able to see and take a photo of him. Next I visited the city of Hirosaki which is famous for delicious apples and Hirosaki Castle. After a long walk it was time rest a bit at a cafe.

While looking for a place to have ice coffee, I walked past a classic building that looked very well maintained. A sign in English was attached to the entrance. It read Starbucks. The exterior and interior of this Starbucks was custom designed to blend in with the area around Hirosaki Castle.

After a relaxing visit it was time to get to the train station. The Shinkansen departs from Shin-Aomori station and gets to Tokyo in a little over 3 hours. But first I needed to catch local JR East train to travel to Aomori. Another surprise awaited me as I entered the train station. A large sign above the ticket gate reminded travelers that the popular IC cards like Suica are unusable here.

One of the great things about living in Japan is all the interesting places foreigners can experience that are full of nature and local foods.

“東京のように多くの情景や音が存在する大きな街で暮らすということはとても冒険的（アドベンチャー）です。東京は眠らない街ですが、たまにこの忙しい都会のオアシスから抜け出して休憩が必要ですよね。幸いなことに日本には静かで、ゆったりと時間が進む場所もあります。そこには新鮮な空気、温泉、そして素晴らしい風景があります。

２年前の夏に、青森県の世界遺産にも登録されている白神山地を訪れました。白神山地はトレッキング（山歩き）や山登りが有名ですよね。珍しい動物や植物を見るには最適の場所でした。それに、鯵ヶ沢市の近くには“わさお”というとても有名な白い秋田犬が住んでいる町もあるのです。たまに日本でも有名なテレビ番組でも取り上げられています。今回はそんなわさおに会って、写真を取ることもできました。その後、とても美味しいりんごと弘前城で有名な弘前市を訪れました。

そして長いこと歩き、カフェで休む時間になりました。

アイスコーヒーを飲める場所を探していたとき、とても綺麗に維持された古典的な建物の横を通り過ぎました。英語で書かれたサインが入り口に取り付けられていて、読んでみると“Starbucks”。このStarbucksの外観や内観は弘前城の周りのエリアにブレンドするようにカスタムデザインされていたのです。

そんなStarbucksで一息ついた後、電車に乗る時間になりました。新幹線は新青森駅から東京駅行きの３時間弱のものでした。ただ、新幹線に乗車するためにJR東日本鉄道を使ってわざわざ青森へ向かう必要があったのです。これには驚きましたね。他にも駅に入った際には改札機の上に旅行者に向けて、“SuicaカードのようなICカードがここでは使用できない”という大きな表示があり、これにもとても驚かされました。

日本に住む中で沢山素晴らしいことがありますが、その一つにあげられるのは外国人が様々な興味深い場所で、沢山の自然やローカルフードなどを経験できるということなのです。”
