Hello! I'm Bob. I'm a dual citizen of Canada and the USA. I was born in Montreal but grew up in New England. My hobbies are writing, yoga, and cooking Mexican food. I like to listen to all types of music.

I was born in Canada, and grew up in New Haven Connecticut, which is East of New York. Six states make up the Northeast part of the USA and it's called New England. Can you name the six states that comprise New England? I'm a baseball fan and my favorite team is the Boston Red Sox. I have seen many Red Sox baseball games in Fenway Park, the oldest baseball field in the world.

I’m also an Eagle Boy Scout and I have hiked the Appalachian trail from New Hampshire’s White Mountains all the way through New England. The trail is much longer than that and starts in Maine and goes all the way down to Georgia. I think I have hiked about one fifth of the total trail. I have also climbed Mount Fuji twice and I hope to do it again. It is an amazing thing to see the sunrise from the top of Mount Fuji.

I went to college in upstate New York and graduated from Vassar University with a dual degree in fine art (oil painting) and Biology (pre-medicine). I was considering becoming a doctor, but after working as a research assistant at a teaching hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, I decided that becoming a doctor was not my path. At the same time, the Apple computer was introduced to the market. I wanted to follow a path of becoming a computer design expert so I took summer classes at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. I actually taught some classes to the entire class because I liked teaching also and I had a minor in computer programming also.

Shortly thereafter, I had the lucky chance to go canoeing with a college friend who had just come back from a year of teaching English in Japan. This path wasn’t yet on my personal career radar, but after questioning him for a long time, it soon became the biggest target for me. I wanted to travel the world and go to Japan and teach English.

So I went to Japan and became an ESL teacher during Japan’s bubble era from 1989 until 1993. My plan was to stay for a year but I enjoyed myself so much that I stayed for four years. I taught a variety of classes from large groups of salary-men and OLs from famous Japanese corporations.

I then went back to North America to get an MFA (Mast of Fine Arts) in computer interface design, again at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. It's sister city in Japan is Hakodate in Hokkaido. I also taught college undergraduate students Adobe software classes at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design. After graduating, I was recruited by a large electronics manufacturer and stayed in the company for over 20 years, 10 years in the USA and over 10 years in Japan. I moved from the USA to Japan for this opportunity.

I love traveling and Japan was just one of many countries I visited among Europe, Asia and North America. I have visited 14 countries and I have a lot of stories to tell you. I traveled around Canada and visited four provinces. I also lived and traveled around the USA and stayed or visited over twenty states in the USA from the West coast to the and East coast. I can show you a list of these places I know if you are interested.

This is my second time in Japan and I have stayed in Japan for more than 17 years all together. So I have had a lot of opportunities to travel in Japan also. I have had the pleasure of visiting over twenty-five cities and prefectures in Japan from the top of Hokkaido all the way down to Okinawa. I have lots of wonderful experiences and fabulous memories of these trips which I hope to share with you one day. Again, I can show you a list of places where I have traveled in Japan. Perhaps we can exchange stories.

And although I have visited many places in Japan and around the world, there are still other countries and areas that I haven't yet visited. I want to visit Shikoku which is the one large areas in Japan that I haven't visited yet. I'm also interested in visiting other countries in Asia including Vietnam and Australia and the Philippines. I also want to visit more of the Mediterranean countries including Portugal, Spain and Italy. I have been to Greece twice and it is one of the best places you could ever imagine.

There are a lot of opportunities and adventures waiting for us just around the corner. Who knows what the future holds for us. Does the fortune-teller know what adventures we will have soon? Either way, life is a blessing and I would love to help you by being one of your guides to help you grow and improve your English skills so you can confidently travel the world and enjoy a multitude of adventures, connections and memories.

Give my class a try and see if you like it. I have only told you one story from all the memories and adventures I have had already in Japan. There is so much more to share and teach you. I hope to see you soon in one of my class rooms. I only have a few days per week at this time, so see if our schedules can be matched. I hope to expand my schedule more in the near future but one step at a time.

"A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step". Thank you very much for your time if you read this to the very end. I hope we can meet one day.

Happy Trails!
Bob
Business 経験 I spent four years in Japan from 1989-1993 teaching English with my BA from Vassar. I returned to North America and graduated with a MFA (Masters of Fine Art) in computer interface design from the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design. I was recruited by a large electronics manufacturer and stayed there for 20 years, but I successfully maneuvered my way back to Japan with that company. I have spent the last two decades working as a PR copywriter and marketing professional and more recently have been a digital marketer utilizing blogs, SEO, SMO, Facebook, YouTube, IG, Twitter and other social media platforms. So I guess you can call me a digital renaissance man.
資格 I am familiar with IELTS and the British Council and STEP; EIKEN as well as TOEIC and TOEFL, SAT, GRE during my 7+ years of teaching English at IP attorney offices, and public elementary, junior high school and high schools.
