先日のブログでご紹介させていただいた英語のゲームアプリですが、ブログを読んでやってみたと数人の生徒様から報告をいただきました。私も日課になり、隙間時間にやっています。制覇しましょうね。

今日は知っている簡単な単語だけど、前置詞によって意味がかわる、表現方法が広がる言葉をご紹介します。
個人的に、こういうのを教わるのが好きで覚えた表現は別の講師に使ってみたりしています。

① To step out でかける・ちょっとでる
I have to step out of the office to get some stamps.
今までgoを使っていた方は、step outも時々使ってみましょう。

② Once and for all　これを最後にきっぱりと
Let’s settle this problem once and for all.

③ To bite off　自分の能力を超えることを試みる
When I accepted the position of chairman, I didn’t realize how much I was biting off.

④ All in all　全体的にみて・やっぱり・結局
All in all, Japan is a nice place to travel around.

⑤ In vain　無駄に
All my efforts were in vain.私の努力は全て水の泡となった。

⑥ To see off　見送る（駅や空港など）
We are going to the airport to see Peter off on his trip to Europe.

⑦ To see out （人を）玄関まで見送るなど
The Johnsons were certain to see their guests out as each one left party.

⑧ To go up to　～のところにいく・～に近寄る
After the lecture, several people in the audience went up to the speaker to congratulate her.

⑨ To be better off　（～した方が）もっと良い状態になる
You would be better off staying here tonight.
You shouldの代わりに使ってみましょう。

⑩ To stress out 大変なプレッシャー、ストレスでまいる
I have too many things to do. I’m so stressed out.
This job is stressing me out.

私も忘れないよう日々使っていくようにしたいと思っています。
